The skin is the largest organ of the body.
It protects the body’s internal organs.
It serves as a protective shield against heat, light, injury, and infection. Also, the skin regulates body temperature, stores fat and prevent water loss, the entry of bacteria and a sensory organ.

Sun on the Skin
Sunlight helps our body to create vitamin D. However, overexposure to sunlight is a major contributing factor to developing skin cancer later in life. Minimal exposure can alleviate, blistering sunburns and decrease the risk of developing malignant melanoma

Sunburn is caused by overexposure
exposure can cause tanning, longer exposure can cause burns.

How to minimize sun exposures

1 Wear sunscreen with a sun protective factor (SPF) of at least 15
2 Reapply sunscreen every 11/2 to 2 hours.
3 Choose a sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays.
4 The sun rays are strongest between 10 am and 4pm, so choose time wisely when
   outdoors.
5 Protect eyes and face with hat and sun glasses.
6 Some medication increase your sensitivity to the sun so wear more protective
gear such as long sleeve  shirts and long shirt or pants.
7Avoid tanning beds. They contain some harmful UV rays as the sun.

Natural ways to get rid of burn scars
1 limit your exposure when recovering from a sunburn
2 Take a cool shower or bath to ease the immediate pain.
3 Use cold compresses or a towel dampened with cool water.
4 Apply skin moisteners or special after-sun lotions containing
aloe to the burned area. These lotions will moisten the skin
  and promote more rapid healing.
5 Drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet.
6 Wear lose-fitting and light clothing so that you do not irritate
   your skin further.
7 Apply moisturizer while the skin peels.
8 Do not break blisters because that will increase your healing
   time.
